Genius Scan is an app that turns your smartphone camera into a scanner. Whenever vendors send you contracts or other paperwork to sign, just put your signature on the dotted line, snap and send. It’s great for wrangling receipts, too. No need to find a scanner, fax machine or paper clip. The scanner technology will automatically detect the edges and correct the perspective of any documents you capture. After some smart and fast post-processing, it is easy to organize scans into documents and export them to your favorite sharing service (Dropbox, Google Docs, Evernote…) as well as your photo library.
You may be asking – how is this different from taking a photo of a receipt or document? The truth is, Genius Scan does so much more to your photo. It cleans up the image to remove backgrounds or shadows so it’s crisp and clear and converts the photo into a PDF. Once you’ve scanned the document, you can straighten or crop it using basic touchscreen commands and connect multiple scans (such as a multi-page contract) into one PDF, This file can then be sent to yourself (or anyone on your team).
Here are some perks of using Genius Scan:
- Convert photos from a camera or album into high-quality PDFs
- Export to Dropbox, Evernote or other cloud storage (with an upgrade)
- Categorize your scans using custom tags and organize your documents for quick access
- Include multiple documents into one file (i.e. business trip receipts)
Genius Scan is awesome because we don’t need to be in the office to access our documents and it helps us to be as paperless as possible. We can take a photo of the signed contract, export via email and the file is sent directly to our office. Our accountant also loves this app because she receives all of the files in her inbox without having to sort through piles of paper and scan them herself to attach to Quickbooks.
